Prof. Kato has received The 2009 Virtual Reality Technical Achievement Award from IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Committee (vgTC) at IEEE VR2009 on Mar. 17th, 2009.

The vgTC is a formal subcommittee of the Technical Activities Board (TAB) of the IEEE Computer Society. The vgTC provides technical leadership and organization for technical activities in the areas of visualization, computer graphics, virtual and augmented reality, and interaction.
